Citizens Of Nowhere?

BY CHINESE ARTS NOW

A funny, moving real-time live audio drama by award-winning writer, Ming Ho, originally directed by David Jiang.

Immersive Screening Event

BY QUEEREAST

良辰已定,吉日待访,吾有薄酒,以谢亲朋,敬备喜筵,随候尊驾。
You are invited to Wai-Tung and Simon’s wedding – it’s Simon’s first but the second for Wei-Tung.

A reimagined story of Wei-Tung and Simon inspired by Ang Lee’s The Wedding Banquet set in a post-same-sex marriage era.

It will be followed by a film screening of The Wedding Banquet, directed by three-time Oscar winner, Ang Lee in 1993.

The Wedding Banquet (1993, Taiwan) is a classic romantic comedy tells the story of Wai-Tung, a gay Taiwanese guy living in Manhattan, who resolves to marry a woman in order to appease his parents. But what begins as a convenient lie evolves into an elaborate farce when his parents decide to fly to America for the wedding.

A set of snacks will be provided in the event with vegan option available.

Chan Magazine

Chán馋 is a bilingual magazine dedicated to the UK Sinophone communities. Through thirteen contributions by seventeen UK-based writers and artists who self-identify as Sinophone diaspora, the first issue of Chán seeks to explore the interconnections between self and collectivity through food – essays, illustrations, images, poetries that construct lines of difference weaved together by memories of food. Instead of identifying as a bilingual publication, we would like to situate ourselves between languages – allowing space for mistranslation, the untranslatable, the incomprehensible, etc. In a time of uncertainties, we are all craving for food and what it signifies – care, support, intimacy and home.

Food/Present

Shoran Jiang

“Food Present” is an immersive journey that transcends boundaries and embraces the beauty of diversity, interweaving cultures and traditions through a shared appreciation for the art of food. I invite you to explore this AR artwork, and witness the power of unity, creativity, and culinary delights as they converge before your eyes.

“Food Present” evokes the enchantment of childhood wonder, co-created by the children themselves. Their drawings come to life in AR, weaving themselves into a gastronomic vision. These imaginative artworks embody the boundless imagination and inventive spirit of young minds, reminding us of the limitless possibilities that arise when we embrace our creativity.
Huge thanks to the young artists: Ansheng, Charlotte, Cindy, Dora, Elise, Lucas, Max, Muchen, Olivia, Rachel and Sophia, who have contributed creative images.
